• Complete Software Solution for Rapid Development
  • Superior Performance Leveraging Multicore / Multi-Threaded Processors

Trillium Multicore is the first comprehensive and portable protocol software suite customized for a new generation of multi-core and multi-threaded processor architectures. Trillium Multicore’s capabilities and benefits extend across the entire Trillium line of more than 60 standards-based protocols, supporting 3G High Speed Packet Access (HSPA), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and Long Term Evolution (LTE).

Trillium Multicore consists of standards-based, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) protocol software that implements a flexible and consistent multi-threading architecture which has been rigorously tested on multiple multi-core and multi-threaded processors. The result is a comprehensive and highly scalable protocol software suite that fills the gap between multi-core, multi-threaded processors and network equipment providers’ end applications, thereby taking full advantage of the parallel processing power of multi-core and multi-threaded processors.

Finally, Trillium Multicore’s multi-threading architecture is independent of the underlying processing architecture. Performance benchmarking has been conducted on Sun’s Chip Multi-Threading (see below), Intel’s family of multi-core x86 processors, NetLogic’s XLR family of processors, and many more. By maintaining the portability of the protocol software, a hallmark of the Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture (TAPA), Trillium Multicore allows network equipment providers to rapidly integrate the most powerful new processors as they become available. Coupled with Trillium Professional Services, this portfolio reinforces the company’s position as a technology leader and partner of choice.

Trillium Multicore in Action

Continuous Computing benchmarked the performance of the Trillium Multicore solution on the Sun Netra T5220 server, based on the eight-core, 64-thread UltraSPARC T2 processor, running the Solaris 10 Operating System.

With the Trillium Multicore optimizations, Trillium SIP on the Netra T5220 (part of Sun’s CMT server line with CoolThreads technology) improved performance by more than two times to an incredible 6,000 calls per second (CPS) as compared to any previous generation multi-core or multi-threaded processor tested. The improvement in capacity equates to requiring a fraction of the hardware footprint to serve the same number of subscribers, thereby reducing infrastructure costs while improving density. Read the solution brief.
