Next generation equipment requires carrier-grade features for scalability and reliability. H.323-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment (such as H.323 Gateways, Gatekeepers and Soft Switches) requires the critical software components to give it the “Five Nines” of reliability.

The Protocol-Specific Function (PSF) for the H.323 Control Fault-Tolerant/High-Availability (FT/HA) software enables it to execute within an active/standby architecture for High Availability systems. PSF – H.323 Control updates the standby copy with state changes from the active copy. In case of failure, the standby copy can assume operations with minimal disruption in the system.

Trillium PSF – H.323 Control software enables telecom equipment manufacturers of soft switches, signaling gateways, signal transfer points, service control points, media gateway controllers or other products to:

  • Accelerate time to market
  • Reduce development costs
  • Reduce project risk of internally developed H.323 Control applications

Product deliverables consist of C source software, documentation, training, a warranty and technical support.

PSF – H.323 Control (FT/HA) can be used in conjunction with the Trillium FT/HA Core product, which provides the management functionality, and other PSF (FT/HA) products, to implement an active/standby system architecture. Refer to the Trillium Fault-Tolerant/High-Availability Core data sheet and other PSF (FT/HA) data sheets for additional information.

FEATURES + BENEFITS

  • Provides an active/standby system architecture for High Availability and reliability.
  • Keeps active calls alive when a Gatekeeper or Gateway fails, which is essential for a carrier grade Gatekeeper/Gateway handling a large number of calls.
  • Preserves call state information (for example, call status, bandwidth used, channels opened, billing information) of active calls on the standby Gatekeeper/Gateway.
  • Invokes a library of functions in a fault-tolerant environment.
  • Offers a fully portable C source code solution, independent of the processor and operating system environments.
  • Offers a modular design that easily integrates with the Trillium FT/HA Core components, which will address customer time-to-market issues.
  • PSF – H.323 Control (FT/HA) supports:
    • Run-time state update of the standby node
    • Warm start procedure to bring an out-of-service node to a standby state
    • Controlled switchover (management-/operator-initiated) of active and standby nodes
    • Forced switchover from an active to a standby node, on failure of the active node
    • Alarm generation, upon detecting failures
    • Debug print and trace generation if enabled by the layer manager
    • Abort procedure of an ongoing FT/HA command at anytime
    • Shutdown procedure, resetting all the states and deallocating all the dynamic memory
  • PSF – H.323 Control (FT/HA) is tightly integrated through an internal interface with the H.323 Control layer for a fault-tolerant operation.
  • Provides the standard Trillium management interface for configuring, controlling, and retrieving the status and statistics information.
  • Conforms to Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture (TAPA)
  • Benefits of licensing Trillium software from Continuous Computing
