The new FlexTCA System from Continuous Computing provides a fully integrated solution to meet new service and capacity requirements for applications such as Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), Security, IPTV, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and more. The FlexTCA system is unique as it provides full integration between fault-tolerant Trillium protocol stacks, Service Availability Forum (SAF) compliant High Availability (HA) middleware, platform management services, and a range of ATCA blades and chassis options. This unprecedented level of integration has the potential to reduce development time by as much as 24 months while enabling significantly lower development costs.
FlexTCA is designed for 99.999% availability and comes in a number of form factors to meet specific network capacities. It includes both general purpose x86 compute blades and specialized packet processing blades for DPI and security functions. The system is interconnected using dual star redundant 10GbE switches with pre-integrated switch and link failover software.
Continuous Computing's Unified Management Interface (UMI) and remote Element Management System (EMS) provide the user with an entire view of the system including alarms, statistics, and events. This interface allows the user to manage their application as well as the hardware and software portions of the system.
The FlexTCA fully-integrated system dramatically lowers development and deployment costs. Pre-integrated, off-the-shelf platforms avoid the extra cost, time, and resources associated with standard system integration and enables resource and development budgets to focus on valued-added services. The FlexTCA system can also accelerate time-to-market by up 24 months, enabling TEMs to secure and retain greater market share versus competitors who may be delayed due to their "building block" or in-house development approach.
