Trillium | Q.SAAL

Description

The Q.SAAL portable software product provides the adaptation layer protocol needed to reliably send and receive signaling data between ATM endpoints. The Q.SAAL software provides the Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) functions of the ATM Adaptation Later (AAL) in the control plane of the ATM model. It consists of the Service Specific Coordination Function (SSCF) at the UNI and the Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP).

Trillium Q.SAAL software enables telecom equipment manufacturers of soft switches, signaling gateways, signal transfer points, service control points, media gateway controllers or other products to:

  • Accelerate time to market
  • Reduce development costs
  • Reduce project risk of internally developed Q.SAAL applications

Product deliverables consist of C source software, documentation, training, a warranty and technical support.

Features + Benefits

  • Supports assured data transfer with sequence integrity.
  • Supports unacknowledged data transfer between ATM endpoints.
  • Supports management data transfer between peer management entities.
  • Supports statistics collection for each connection.
  • Supports multiple variants (ITU-T, ATM Forum UNI 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0). Each link can be configured to support a variant independent of any other link. In other words, one link can support ATM Forum UNI 3.0 while another link supports ATM Forum UNI 3.1 at the same time.
  • Supports establishment and release of point-to-point SAAL connections between ATM endpoints for assured data transfer.
  • Supports error correction by selective retransmission.
  • Supports flow control between itself and the Q.93B signaling layer on a per link basis.
  • Supports keep alive functions to maintain a connection in the prolonged absence of data transfer.
  • Supports data retrieval by the local user.
  • Supports connection reset.
  • Supports active or passive mode for SAAL connection establishment.
  • Supports multiple SAAL connections over the same ATM link.
  • Conforms to Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture (TAPA)
  • Benefits of licensing Trillium software from Continuous Computing

Product Interworking

Trillium Q.SAAL can be used with Trillium Q.2140, MPC860SAR driver, and MOS software products, and as part of the Trillium Integrated ATM Windows NT software products.

Professional Services

Continuous Computing also offers Trillium Professional Services to integrate Trillium software into customers' products.

Conformance

Trillium Q.SAAL software conforms to the following standards and specifications:

  • ITU-T Draft Recommendation Q.SAAL1, Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SCCOP) Specification
  • ITU-T Draft Recommendation Q.SAAL2, Service Specific Coordination Function (SSCF) for signaling at the UNI
  • ITU-T Recommendation Q.2110, B-ISDN - ATM Adaptation Layer - Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP)
  • ITU-T Recommendation Q.2130, B-ISDN signaling ATM Adaptation Layer - Service Specific Coordination Function for Support of signaling at the User-to-Network Interface (SSCF at UNI)
