Trillium | Protocol Specific Interface Function - ISUP (PSIF - ISUP)
Description
The Protocol Specific Interface Function (PSIF) is used as an interface from the underlying protocol layer to the Trillium Interworking Call Control (ICC). The PSIF - ISUP software provides a generic interface between ISUP and ICC. PSIF - ISUP understands the interface as implemented in the underlying protocol layer and maps it to a uniform interface required by ICC.
Trillium PSIF - ISUP enables telecom equipment manufacturers of soft switches, signaling gateways, signal transfer points, service control points, media gateway controllers or other products to:
- Accelerate time to market
- Reduce development costs
- Reduce project risk of internally developed ISUP applications
Product deliverables consist of C source software, documentation, training, warranty and technical support.
Features and Benefits
- PSIF handles the protocol layer-specific interfaces and maps them to a uniform interface toward the Interworking Call Control: It maps from the protocol-specific interface to the Interworking Call Control lower interface.
- When a maintenance procedure requires the release of existing connections, PSIF - ISUP tracks the current connection associated with the resource and initiates the connection clearing. Once the connection has been cleared, PSIF - ISUP initiates the response required for the maintenance procedure.
- PSIF interfaces with the Interworking Call Control Resource Manager to mark the resources as being available or unavailable, due to maintenance procedures.
- PSIF performs call distribution functions to distribute incoming calls to different call control entities for load sharing reasons (for example, on a round-robin basis).
- PSIF maintains information about static binding for each network resource that it controls. PSIF initiates the mapping of maintenance procedures to the statically mapped interface.
- PSIF maps the maintenance procedures to the other protocol entity in the case of static binding.
- PSIF - ISUP provides full support of the multiple Originating Point Code (OPC) feature.
- PSIF - ISUP supports Distributed Fault-Tolerant/High-Availability (DFT/HA) architecture compatibility.
- PSIF - ISUP provides FT/HA support for the information maintained by PSIF - ISUP, including:
- Generation and interpretation of the run-time update messages
- Update of stable information during warmstart
- Update of transient information in controlled switchover
- Support for fallback to stable state on standby in case of aborting warmstart or controlled switchover
- Support for enabling and disabling a group of upper and lower SAPs
- PSIF - ISUP provides support for PSIF layer shutdown.
