Trillium | MPC860SAR Driver

Description

The MPC860SAR PowerQUICC communication controller is Motorola's integrated communications controller that provides the ATM SAR functionality, namely segmentation and re-assembly of AAL PDUs to and from ATM cells. It supports AAL0 and AAL5 interfaces, with direct supports for CBR and UBR connections. It has a standard UTOPIA cell-level interface with ATM PHY as well as serial interfaces for ATM transport over serial lines such as T1, E1 or xDSL. A single copy of Trillium MPC860SAR driver software supports ATM AAL5 connections on multiple MPC860SAR chips or a single MPC860SAR.

The Trillium MPC860SAR driver portable software product provides the following basic capabilities:

  • Activates a virtual connection
  • Deactivates a virtual conection
  • Transfers AAL5 PDUs over a virtual connection

Trillium MPC860SAR driver software enables telecom equipment manufacturers of soft switches, signaling gateways, signal transfer points, service control points, media gateway controllers or other products to:

  • Accelerate time to market
  • Reduce development costs
  • Reduce project risk of internally developed MPC860SAR driver applications

Product deliverables consist of C source software, documentation, training, a warranty and technical support.

Features + Benefits

Trillium MPC860SAR driver software supports the following:

AAL5 features:

  • Message mode operations
  • Transmit and receive chaining
  • Error detection during reassembly
  • Maximum frame length of 1 to 65535 bytes
  • Receive address filtering
  • Programmable reassembly time-out period selection for receive operations
  • Up to 65534 virtual channels per 860SAR

Extended features:

  • Cell scrambling for serial-mode SCCs
  • Flexible configuration, for example, all options for address matching, such as using an internal lookup table, external address compression or CAM
  • Loopback operation
  • Conforms to Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture (TAPA)
  • Benefits of licensing Trillium software from Continuous Computing

Product Interworking

Trillium MPC8260 driver software interworks with Trillium Q.SAAL, LEC, LAN emulation and FR/ATM interworking software products.

Professional Services

Continuous Computing also offers Professional Services to integrate Trillium software into customers' products.
