FlexTCA Platform Software is a package of HA software composed of three main components that work together with the hardware system to deliver carrier-grade, Service Availability Forum (SAF)-compliant reliability, including:
- Essential Services with L2HA
- GoAhead SAFfire 3.0 HA middleware
- Trillium Protocol Integration SDK
With these key software components already pre-integrated and pre-tested, customers starting with Continuous Computing systems are able to focus their engineering teams' efforts on product-differentiating applications, reduce their project risk, and speed the introduction of their products to market.
At the core of the system, SAF-compliant HA middleware helps developers of highly reliable systems build carrier-grade applications by supplying the most comprehensive, proven, and integrated availability management software. The HA middleware provides the framework to detect faults and manage failover to ensure continuity of service.
Essential Services simplify the management of the hardware platform and provides a mechanism for low-level management prior to the initialization of HA middleware or application. L2HA switching software delivers the underlying mechanisms to ensure that continual service can be provided in the event of a link or switch failure. It specifically monitors and manages drivers and switching for the base and fabric interfaces, as well as provides for a low-latency failover when a fault is detected.
