Continuous Computing Delivers Trillium "NGN-Ready" Diameter Upgrades
Trillium Diameter 2007 Roadmap Overview
Continuous Computing's Trillium Diameter roadmap in 2007 focuses on three core areas:
- Carrier-grade Stack Enhancements
This includes extensive testing, comprehensive specification compliance, and the addition of all key NGN and IMS interfaces. - Performance Optimization
This includes protocol software enhancements that optimize performance in multi-core / multi-threaded processing environments. - Software Usability
This includes implementation of the Trillium SDK components.
In the case of Trillium Diameter, we have successfully covered focus areas one (i.e., carrier-grade enhancements) and two (i.e., performance optimization) and are progressing aggressively on the third, the Trillium SDK. The following sections provide details on each project.
Trillium Diameter 1.2 Release | GA January 2007
Trillium Diameter release 1.2 has solidified the Trillium Diameter core product. The release focused on enhanced specification compliance, IMS interface support, and a set of tools to expedite the development process and has thereby raised the bar for Diameter source code solutions. Specifically, the Trillium Diameter 1.2 release provide the following upgrades:
- Support for all 3GPP, 3GPP2, and ETSI TISPAN interfaces
- 3GPP IMS Cx, Dx, Sh, Dh, Ro, Rf, Gq, Gq', Rx, and Gx
- 3GPP2 IMS Cx, Dx, Sh, Dh, Ro, Rf, Gq'
- ETSI TISPAN Rq, Gq'e2, e4
- Automated AVP and Diameter Message (DM) dictionary generation
- Initial release of the Trillium Interface Configuration Tool (ICT)
- Trillium ICT auto-generates interface primitives based on a user-generated text file
- Effort required to add an interface reduced by over 60%
- Trillium XML Test Architecture (XTA) support
- XML-based testing environment
- Extensible, easy to use, and automated acceptance and regression testing environment
- Features automated sample configurations for integrated Diameters stacks (i.e., Diameter over TCP (TLS) and SCTP) for rapid stack setup and acceptance test execution

Trillium Diameter Performance Optimizations | GA July 2007
Trillium Diameter Performance Optimizations, released this July, furthers Trillium's performance leadership in the Diameter market. The performance optimizations multi-thread the entire Trillium Diameter stack with minimized locking. This provides industry leading performance in single-core / multi-processor, multi-core / multi-processor, and multi-core / hardware threaded / multi-processor computing environments. In other words, however many processing entities are available, Trillium Diameter takes full advantage of each one, providing unparalleled performance scalability. The release testing reached over 35,000 messages per second and details of the comprehensive testing are captured in a detailed performance report. The report outlines the results in multiple real-world performance testing scenarios featuring Continuous Computing's Trillium Diameter and FlexCompute ATCA-XE30.

Trillium Diameter Software Development Kit (SDK)
The final step in the 2007 Trillium Diameter roadmap is the development of the Trillium Diameter SDK. The SDK is being developed in two primary phases. The phases represent a spiral development approach with each release a fully-tested subset of the end functionality. We are targeting a release of the first phase by the end of 2007 and the second phase in the first quarter of 2008.
