Deal Marks Continuous Computing’s 21st Femtocell Customer Win, Cementing it as the World’s Leading Provider of Femtocell Software

LAS VEGAS – CTIA WIRELESS – March 23, 2010 – Continuous Computing, the global provider of integrated platform solutions that address the mobile broadband capacity challenge, today announced that femtocell solution provider Ablaze Wireless has selected its Trillium software to power the company’s upcoming femtocell access point portfolio. By leveraging Trillium software and Continuous Computing’s expertise, Ablaze Wireless has been able to accelerate its entry into the rapidly growing Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) femtocell market and effectively reduce the cost of femtocells, considered a key driver to mass deployment for many wireless operators. The deal marks Continuous Computing’s 21st femtocell customer win, making it the world’s leading provider of femtocell software.

“2010 will be the year when femtocells start to go mass market. The phenomenal growth of device manufacturers in Asia preparing femtocell products is set to have a dramatic, industry-wide impact by increasing competition and therefore driving down price points,” said Manish Singh, vice president of product line management at Continuous Computing. “Ablaze Wireless exemplifies the new generation of femtocell solution providers that are set to enter and disrupt the market. They have the ideal mix of cellular and consumer electronics experience to help deliver products that will make femtocells a truly mass market proposition.”

“We are seeing rapidly growing demand for femtocells globally. There is enormous potential for companies such as ourselves to bring high quality mass market consumer electronics manufacturing techniques into the field of telecom infrastructure,” said Jungtao Liu, president of Ablaze Wireless. “We chose Continuous Computing because their Trillium femtocell software solution is standards-compliant while also being tried and tested in active femtocell deployments. The fact that it is a pre-integrated femtocell reference package means we can shorten our time-to-market as well as tailor our offerings to suit individual operator needs.”

Trillium femtocell software supports both 3G Evolved High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. Key features include:

  • Performance-optimized software with minimized memory footprint
  • Out-of-the-box support for voice, video and high-speed data
  • Pre-tested solution verified with multiple User Equipment (UE) devices
  • Complete suite of 3G Core Network Emulator (CNE) functionality for testing and demonstration
  • Fully compliant with 3GPP Release 8 Home NodeB standards, including support for Iuh
