Companies to Streamline Product Evaluation and Development Process for 3G and 4G Broadband Wireless Networks
SAN DIEGO – November 10, 2008 - Continuous Computing, the only company deploying uniquely architected systems comprised of telecom platforms and Trillium® software, today announced that it has signed a partner agreement with Wind River, the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO). The agreement allows Continuous Computing to offer its Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) customers with evaluation copies of reference designs that pre-integrate binary runtime modules from Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition and VxWorks with Continuous Computing’s FlexTCA™ family of ATCA systems, as well as evaluation copies of Wind River’s award-winning development tools known as Wind River Workbench.
Network equipment providers have expressed a strong interest in pre-integrated solutions that help them get to market faster while reducing cost and complexity. By having access to Wind River’s platform products, Continuous Computing can now integrate its own line of Trillium protocol stacks, thereby providing an “out-of-the-box” experience that saves resources and expedites time-to-market.
“Our telecom customers are requesting Wind River Platform for Network Equipment software, and Continuous Computing has responded to this demand by standardizing on it as the default runtime platform for our FlexTCA pre-integrated ATCA systems,” said Garrett Choi, vice president of business development for Continuous Computing. “We look forward to further collaboration with Wind River in order to give our customers the highest performance as together we target LTE wireless and DPI market opportunities.”
“In today’s highly competitive and increasingly complex networking industry, our customers are rapidly moving to leverage and adopt integrated and validated commercial solutions that shorten development schedules and free resources to focus on innovation and differentiation,” says Mike Langlois, general manager of the Networking segment at Wind River. “Expanding our platform partner ecosystem to include Continuous Computing’s FlexTCA hardware systems and Trillium multicore optimized protocol software adds a tremendous amount of value to customers who want to leverage best-in-class solutions to build highly competitive packet processing applications that will be utilized over the next decade.”
The partner agreement also provides that Continuous Computing may receive early access to Wind River’s future software releases allowing Continuous Computing to develop a more feature-rich and competitive Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution. The two companies will also continue to collaborate on marketing and co-selling activities to bring the best possible pre-integrated ATCA systems to market.
Continuous Computing’s partner network continues to expand as it establishes alliances with market-leading companies such as Intel, picoChip, RMI, Wind River, and others to provide additional value and high-performance products to customers.
