Deal marks company’s 9th femtocell customer win and reaffirms Continuous Computing’s strong traction in the global femtocell market

SAN DIEGO – December 1, 2008 - Continuous Computing, the only company deploying uniquely architected systems comprised of telecom platforms and Trillium software, today announced that Communication & Satellite (C&S) Microwave has selected Continuous Computing’s Trillium Femtocell 3G protocol and reference implementation software to power the company’s Femtocell Access Point (FAP). C&S Microwave, a Korean RF designer, developer, and manufacturer servicing the wireless telecommunications industry, will leverage Continuous Computing’s reference implementation for 3G FAPsbased on the PC202 solution by technology partner picoChip, the leading supplier of femtocell silicon.

To date, Continuous Computing has secured 9 femtocell design wins with a wide range of femtocell access point and femtocell gateway providers, which confirms the company’s strong and growing traction in the global femtocell market. These femtocell customers include traditional network equipment providers, original design manufacturers, broadband access suppliers, and radio equipment vendors located in North America, Europe, China, and Korea.

“The Trillium Femtocell solution will enable C&S Microwave to move into the femtocell base station market very quickly, as we now gain a working reference femtocell implementation to build upon along with the invaluable wireless expertise of the Trillium Professional Services team,” said H.B. Lee, president and chief executive officer of C&S Microwave. “We have long followed Continuous Computing’s leadership in the wireless industry and believe the company’s proven 3G High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) performance and its planned reference implementation for Long Term Evolution (LTE) femtocells will help us quickly gain momentum in this exciting market.”

“We are delighted that C&S Microwave has chosen Trillium software and Trillium Professional Services to expedite and differentiate its entry into the femtocell base station market,” said Mike Dagenais, president and chief executive officer of Continuous Computing. “We look forward to assisting C&S Microwave in rapidly expanding its product portfolio and continuing to bring market-driven, revenue-generating solutions to the global wireless telecom market.”

The Trillium Femtocell software solution currently supports 3G HSPA, while an aggressive roadmap includes support and availability of an LTE Femtocell reference implementation. The Trillium FAP reference implementation is pre-integrated with picoChip’s PC202 femtocell reference board and baseband software, and key features include:

  • Performance-optimized software with minimized memory footprint
  • Out-of-the-box support for voice, video, and high-speed data
  • Pre-tested solution verified with multiple User Equipment (UE) devices

Continuous Computing is an active member of the Femto Forum, a non-profit organization committed to the standardization and adoption of femtocell technology, as well as a participant in 3GPP activities. The company’s participation validates its expertise in femtocell network architecture and demonstrates support for the development of interoperable femtocell products.
