Latest Phases of MAP & CAP Protocols Give Company an Edge in the IMS Market
SAN DIEGO – NOV. 16, 2005 – Continuous Computing Corporation, global provider of Network Service-Ready Platforms that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy converged communications, today announced the latest upgrades to the company’s Trillium protocol software lineup which will enhance IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) functionality while simultaneously supporting High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and the Home Subscriber Server (HSS). Continuous Computing’s advancements with Trillium Mobile Application Part (MAP) and CAMEL Application Part (CAP) protocols are indicative of the company’s continued progress and innovation in the IMS market.
The MAP and CAP protocol upgrades will help field the integration of IMS into the newest converged networks while ensuring the continued usability of legacy applications in those networks. MAP is an essential component of the IMS infrastructure control plane, addressing issues such as improving management of subscriber data across all applications through a common HSS. Access to this data allows for the development of powerful IMS applications, such as using end-user presence data to allow for the delivery of coupons to a subscriber’s cell phone based on proximity to a retail location.
“Continuous Computing is dedicated to staying ahead of the industry curve, and integrating ground-breaking technologies like IMS into our Trillium protocol offerings is a validation of our advancement in the market,” said Annita McDonald, Director of Product Marketing. “We are committed to providing our customers with a smooth and rapid transition into next-generation telecommunications architectures and converged network services.”
The Trillium MAP layer has been upgraded to GSM 29.002, Phase 2+ Specification, version 6.8.0 for 3G networks (Release-6), while the CAP layer has advanced to Phase 4 version 4, Phase 4 version 5, and Phase 4 IMS.
