Trillium Strengthens Relationship with NEC in Addressing Global Need for Next Generation IP Telephony
Licensing of Trillium's H.323 Software to NEC Engineering Builds on Existing Agreement with NEC for Developing Multimedia Conferencing Capable Phones
LOS ANGELES - October 09, 2001 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., an Intel company and leading provider of communications software solutions, has licensed its H.323 product portfolio to NEC Engineering for the development of audio/video phones for the customer premise equipment market segment. The current offering of Trillium's H.323 Gateway (GW), added to the existing software suite licensed to NEC last January, will enable the global telephony equipment manufacturer to develop products ranging from next generation audio and video phones to multi-point control gateways and multimedia conferencing units.
The license of Trillium's H.323 GW will enable NEC Engineering to deploy a number of applications for multimedia conferencing such as whiteboard sharing, and video and audio conferencing. Trillium's comprehensive suite of H.323 IP telephony software is widely used in advanced communications equipment ranging from Internet telephones to carrier-grade composed and decomposed gateway solutions. It conforms to the latest Version 3 support and consists of H.225 RAS, H.225 Call Signaling, H.245 Control Signaling, H.450 Supplementary Services, ASN.1 Encoder/Decoder PER, TCP/UDP Convergence and RTP/RTCP source code software products. Trillium's H.323 is built on TAPA (Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture), which allows the seamless incorporation of all other Trillium solutions, without significant changes to the design, implementation and testing approaches.
Trillium is committed to being an integral part of the telecommunications growth worldwide by striving to be the source code provider of choice for leading equipment manufacturers, said Frank Morese, vice president of marketing for Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. We are ensuring customer satisfaction by providing high-performing, interoperable offerings such as our H.323 software. NECs continued selection of Trillium over other providers is an example of how our strategy of offering excellent dedicated local support for cutting-edge solutions, has become a crucial advantage in meeting the time-constraints and quality assurance of next generation networks.
Trillium's H.323 supports numerous configurations including Gateway, Gatekeeper and Multipoint Control unit, which supports the Multipoint Controller and Multipoint Processor functions. The availability of a local Trillium support team in Japan enabled NEC to quickly adopt Trillium's H.323 offerings and provided the necessary assistance to shorten time-to-market for next generation IP telephony products.
Trillium's Japan regional support team, along with similar teams in China and South Korea, was established to strengthen Trillium's existing presence in the Asia-Pacific region during the initial build-out phase of the next generation communications infrastructure in that region. Trillium is prepared to quickly address the time-to-market requirements of local and international communications equipment manufacturers by providing communications software solutions and support that accelerate the deployment of telephony, wireless, Internet and broadband network equipment.
As the premier provider of IP telephony equipment in Japan and the Asia Pacific region, NEC is setting the standards for service and quality in next generation communications, said Toshiyuki Onaka, senior manager for NEC Engineering. Trillium's well-established reputation as a reliable source for standards-based, tested and interoperable software solutions, coupled with our successful experience in deploying its product offerings, have made Trillium a natural partner in helping NEC Engineering continue its tradition of excellence and leadership in the telecommunications arena.
