UANGEL Selects Trillium's SS7 Telephony Software Solutions to Speed Next Generation Wireless Build-out in Korea

Licensing Agreement Helps Provide New Wireless Value-Added Services to Consumers and Strengthens Trillium's Presence as a Provider of Choice in Asia

LOS ANGELES - August 14, 2001 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., an Intel company and leading provider of communications software solutions, has licensed its SS7 telephony software solutions to UANGEL, a Korean leader in integrated wireless data and Core Network systems. UANGEL will use Trillium's high-availability architecture and SS7 telephony offerings to help in the build-out of next generation wireless networks in Korea and provide end users with value-added services such as mobile banking, mobile commerce, and prepaid and hot billing services.

Trillium is licensing its leading SS7 telephony solutions to UANGEL, including the Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP), the Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP), and the Message Transfer Part (MTP) Level 3 portable software products. These protocols help facilitate development and implementation of Third Generation (3G) products and services for wireless operators. Examples of the 3G wireless solutions UANGEL aims to offer include Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Multi-Protocol Short Message Service Center (SMSC), IN Systems, and Wireless Internet systems such as Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) Gateway, mobile banking, and other high-demand services.

UANGEL will deploy Trillium's SS7 telephony offerings for meeting the stringent requirements of next generation intelligent wireless networks and creating the backbone for wireless data and wireless Internet. Critical network elements, such as signaling gateways, home location registers, service control points, and short message service centers, will be developed to offer value-added wireless services. Trillium's high-availability architecture will help achieve over five nines (99.999%) of availability of these network elements.

The licensing agreement with UANGEL strengthens Trillium's presence in Korea and solidifies the company's position as a strategic partner for developing next generation communications solutions in Asia. Trillium's business relationships with leading developers in the region such as NEC and Samsung, combined with the company's wide breadth of cutting-edge solution offerings, have enabled Trillium to become a provider of choice for Asian customers.

"Asia is on the cutting-edge of the global wireless evolution, and our reputation as a trusted technology partner has positioned us well for providing the building blocks needed for carrying out the next phase of wireless development in Asia," said Frank Morese, vice president of marketing for Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. "UANGEL's licensing agreement is the direct result of our continued efforts to cultivate and grow in this geographic region, and reflects the confidence customers have in the ability of Trillium's communications software solutions for developing next generation wireless and wired networks."

"We plan to use Trillium's software solutions to deliver new levels of wireless service while maintaining the quality and reliability customers have come to expect from UANGEL," said Jun Ho Lim, senior manager, marketing, for UANGEL.
