Trillium's H.323 Software Selected by Acterna to Accelerate Development of Next-Generation Test Equipment
PHOENIX - March 20, 2001 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., an Intel company and leading provider of communications software solutions, announced today at Spring 2001 Voice On the Net (VON) conference that it will provide its high-performing H.323 IP telephony software solution to Acterna, (NASDAQ: ACTR), the world's second-largest provider of products that test and manage communications networks, for expediting the development of telecommunications test solutions. Testing tools play a key role in helping next-generation equipment manufacturers roll out cutting-edge products to address network convergence. Acterna's products and solutions help optimize communications systems and networks. The high performance and robust software implementation of Trillium's H.323 solution increases the integrity checking for H.323-based Gateways and Gatekeeper equipment. Additionally, the solution's versatile nature helps shorten time-to-market by enabling use of the software stack for network equipment and test equipment manufacturers.
Trillium's H.323 IP telephony software solution is widely used in advanced communications equipment ranging from Internet telephones to carrier-class SoftSwitch solutions and test equipment tools. The solution conforms to the latest version of the H.323 industry specification (version 3) and includes software stacks for a number of key telephony applications. Trillium's H.323 consists of H.225 RAS, H.225 Call Signaling, H.245 Control Signaling, H.450 Supplementary Services, ASN.1 Encoder/Decoder - PER, TCP/UDP Convergence and RTP/RTCP source code software products. Trillium's H.323 is built on TAPA (Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture), which allows the seamless incorporation of all other high-quality Trillium solutions without significant changes to the design, implementation and testing approaches.
"Acterna's selection of Trillium's H.323 solution is yet another example of the versatility of our product," said Frank Morese, vice-president of Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. "The robust implementation of the H.323 software, coupled with its high-performance carrier-class operation and interoperability guarantee, make it ideal for addressing the rigorous demands of test-equipment tools for interaction and interoperability with different vendors' H.323-based equipment."
