Trillium's H.323 Software Selected by Samsung Electronics to Develop Cutting-Edge Internet Telephony Products

Superb Performance, Scalability Among Chief Reasons for Choice

LOS ANGELES - November 28, 2000 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., an Intel company and leading provider of communications software solutions, announced that its record-breaking H.323 IP telephony software solution was selected by Samsung Electronics to accelerate its development of Internet telephones, Web videophones, gatekeepers, gateways and other next-generation Internet-based products. By incorporating Trillium's high-quality, high-performing, scalable H.323 solution, global telecommunications appliance manufacturer Samsung can enhance its competitiveness in the Internet telephony market through the development of cutting-edge, end-to-end IP telephony solutions. Trillium's H.323 IP telephony software solution is currently being used in a variety of equipment ranging from Internet telephones to carrier-grade solutions. This high-performance software makes it possible for equipment manufacturers to design carrier-class systems that exceed the performance, capacity and scalability requirements of next-generation networks, while its low- memory requirements allow equipment OEMs to scale the same code base down to IP phones and appliances.

Trillium's H.323 conforms to the latest Version 3 support and consists of H.225 RAS, H.225 Call Signaling, H.245 Control Signaling, H.450 Supplementary Services, ASN.1 Encoder/Decoder - PER, TCP/UDP Convergence and RTP/RTCP source code software products. Additionally, Trillium's H.323 is built on the TAPA (Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture) architectural and coding standard that enables the seamless integration of any other high-quality Trillium solution without significant changes to the design, implementation and testing approaches.

"Our H.323 IP telephony software suite has become the software suite of choice for architects of the converged network infrastructure," said Rich Cahalan, president and COO of Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. "Being TAPA compliant, Trillium's H.323 software offers maximum portability and flexibility in design. Trillium's technical expertise in the area of IP Telephony, responsive technical support and comprehensive product portfolio and roadmap, made Trillium the best choice in the IP Telephony market." Samsung's choice of Trillium's H.323 is the latest development in the longstanding business relationship between the two companies. Samsung Electronics has benefited from Trillium's stability and reliability and its proven solutions such as SS7 for various telephony and wireless equipment applications.

"As a leader in the global mobile phone terminal market, Samsung looks forward to applying Trillium's H.323 IP telephony software solution for the development of next-generation Internet-based products," said Hak Joong Choi, general manager of Samsung Electronics' Web Phone Business Group. "Trillium H.323's superior performance and small-memory requirement make it a natural choice for assisting Samsung's growth in the IP telephony market."
