Trillium and Vsys Partner to Accelerate the Deployment of Enhanced Softswitch IP Telephony Platform

Necisa Platform Enables New Generation of Applications using Trillium's industry-leading H.323 IP Telephony Software

SAN JOSE, CA - March 28, 2000 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., the leading provider of communications software solutions, and Vsys, a solutions provider to both intelligent networks (IN) and the packet telephony industry, announce an integrated solution to accelerate the deployment of Vsys' Necisa (Network Convergence Integrated Switch Architecture) IP telephony Platform. By integrating Trillium's industry-leading H.323 software solution into the Necisa Softswitch platform, Vsys enables network operators to quickly implement carrier-class, end-to-end IP telephony solutions that meet the performance, capacity and scalability requirements of next-generation networks.

"Trillium's record-breaking H.323 IP telephony software solution far exceeds current industry standards for performance," said Jeff Lawrence, president and CEO, Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. "Trillium's high-performance H.323 IP telephony software solution is currently being used in equipment ranging from IP telephones to carrier-grade solutions. Trillium's H.323 software solution enables equipment manufacturers to design carrier-class systems that exceed next-generation network requirements for performance and scalability."

"Vsys has had experience with other H.323 protocol implementations. We have decided to use Trillium due to our strict requirement for a high-performance, standards-based IP telephony solution," said Greg Baltzer, CEO, Vsys. "Vsys is very impressed by Trillium's level of expertise and quality of support in integrating their H.323 product into our solution." Necisa is a network intelligence layer isolating new converged services from the complexities of today's network environment. Whether a service is running in a pure IP network, or requires connectivity to the traditional PSTN, Necisa is able to manage the user sessions and provide routing control through hybrid networks. Necisa supports the most commonly used gateways in today's IP networks using H.323 and MGCP protocols. In addition, Necisa allows efficient connectivity to the existing PSTN using a wide range of currently available SS7 protocols. Solution providers are able to bundle their services with Necisa and bring a robust application to market without wasting time or money. Service providers gain the reliability of a proven softswitch in the core of the solution they are installing in their network. The Necisa openness is based on a well-constructed services interface.

Trillium's H.323 software achieves its record-breaking performance results and offers maximum portability and flexibility because it is based on Trillium's proven TAPA(R) software architecture. Trillium's H.323 protocol software solution, consisting of H.225 RAS, H.225 Call Signaling, H.245 Control Signaling, ASN.1 Encoder/Decoder - PER TCP/UDP Convergence and RTP/RTCP source code software products, is currently being used in a wide range of applications. Trillium's H.323 IP telephony software solution has recently been expanded to include the following:

Standards update to support H.323v3 Annex E support for reduced call setup roundtrip time Enhanced H.450 support for easy deployment of supplementary services Endpoint RAS API support for increased flexibility and interoperability.

Future releases will include comprehensive support for Annex G, Annex M as well as fault-tolerant/high-availability support for increased network reliability. For additional information on Trillium's IP Telephony software solutions, please see http://www.ccpu.com/products/trillium/
