Nortel and Trillium Sign Worldwide Supplier Agreement For Communications Software

Trillium provides simplified process for Nortel to license from the industry's broadest range of communications source code software

LOS ANGELES - July 27, 1998 - Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., a leading provider of communications software solutions, and Nortel (Northern Telecom) [NYSE: NT/TSE: NTL] today announced the signing of a worldwide agreement that establishes Trillium as a Nortel supplier for communications source code software. Built upon the foundation of Trillium's longstanding relationship with Nortel, this agreement establishes mechanisms to make it easier for Nortel to obtain information about Trillium's software products and simplifies the ordering process, further reducing the time it takes for project teams to acquire the technology they need to meet stringent time-to-market requirements. This supplier agreement provides a simplified, comprehensive and cost-effective process for Nortel and its worldwide affiliates to license from Trillium's broad range of protocol software products.

"We are constantly seeking ways to provide our customers with the best products as quickly and cost-efficiently as possible. While there are many Nortel locations around the world, we operate as a single global enterprise for technology acquisition and licensing," said Brent Sprinkle, Senior Manager, Nortel. "This new agreement with Trillium enables us to consolidate our purchasing through a worldwide agreement with streamlined procedures, providing us with the flexibility to incorporate Trillium's solutions into our products on a quick and consistent basis worldwide. Through this agreement, we have simplified our licensing and will be able to shorten development cycles, while managing costs more effectively. This is very important in such a competitive environment where technology is changing so rapidly."

Trillium President and CEO Jeff Lawrence said, "We are committed to providing solutions that best suit our customers' needs. We worked closely with Nortel to learn about their organizational structure, product directions and technology licensing philosophy. Together, we fashioned an agreement that provides a flexible structure for Nortel to license Trillium's software solutions. We have had a long and very positive relationship with Nortel, and this new agreement enhances the way we do business together. As an industry leader, we will continue to work with our customers to develop licensing frameworks that meet their business needs and build stronger relationships. In addition, we are exploring ways to increase customer involvement in our product development planning and to extend volume-purchasing agreements."

Continuous Computing acquired the portable software business of Trillium Digital Systems from Intel Corporation in February 2003.
