The world is getting smaller and smaller, as innovations have enabled the convergence of communication technologies. As technology rapidly evolves, a dream turns into reality. These days you can watch a movie on the mobile and if this is possible, then the future is brighter for dedicated engineers who could please the world further with their efforts. Continuous Computing, a group committed to providing the best telecommunications software and hardware, is truly globalising the world.

Vice president and managing director of Continuous Computing, Pradeep Malhotra, said that the company worked on providing communications infrastructure.

"We provide network service-ready platforms to our customers. Our markets primarily lie in the wireless, Voice over Internet Protocol (VolP) and IP Multimedia Sub-System (IMS) areas. Our main business lies in the 3G wireless and VoIP sectors. Our main intention is to deploy these technologies rapidly," he said.

Graduates would be happy to know that the company provides Rs 75,000 as education fund for each staff member.

Pradeep said that the company was so employee-centric that it had alternate Friday offs for its employees.

"The alternate Friday off for our staff was a big hit. But, we had to stop it due to stringent labour laws in California. Our staff are provided with laptops and have the option to work from home. A fresher also gets a stock option in the company, this is one of the highlights of our policy.

Salaries for product engineers are high and motivation levels in the company drive our staff to become leaders," he said.

Pradeep said that although the telecom industry saw a slump after 2001, there has been arise in budget spending this year.

"Research is on to work on faster platforms. Linux is being extensively used these days. When Continuous Computing acquired Intel's Trillium it became easier to provide protocol software and develop distributed fault tolerance mechanisms. The applications of the product are written by our customers and we provide support with element management, base, fabric and TDM switching. These days we also write applications, just to get the product in to the market on a fast track basis. This support enabled product engineering operation keeps our customers ahead in the market," he said.

Pradeep added: "India has a major development centre of Continuous Computing in Bangalore. We would double our workforce in Bangalore over twelve months, at the moment we have a team of 65 here. The company will spend US $ 10 million over the next decade to consolidate in India."

Pradeep said that mentors were essential these days.

"India has seen a sea change in terms of opportunity. But, teaching staff and their salaries must be better since we are moving in to a knowledge economy. India has the education infrastructure and now it has to consolidate. But it has to brace itself for a lifestyle change. Better wages and great work culture could be motivating factors," he said.
