Continuous Computing Releases “NGN-Ready” Trillium SIP and Diameter Protocol Software

Product Features Substantially Improve Performance, Usability, and Specification Compliance

SAN DIEGO – January 24, 2007 – Continuous Computing, global provider of integrated systems and services that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy Next Generation Networks (NGN), today announced the release of “NGN-Ready” Trillium Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Diameter protocol software. The combination of these IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-enhanced Trillium products, along with the company's expanding set of hardware solutions, positions Continuous Computing as the thought leader for providing integrated offerings that help accelerate the development and deployment of popular NGN applications and infrastructure.

“Continuous Computing is committed to providing system-level solutions consisting of Trillium software, bladed system hardware, and professional services that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to get to market quickly,” said Mike Dagenais, chief executive officer of Continuous Computing. “These upgraded Trillium protocols reinforce the company's strong dedication to delivering timely new products and features to its customers.”

The broad variety of products enabled by the latest versions of Trillium SIP and Trillium Diameter include soft phones, Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) modems, back-to-back (B2B) SIP User Agents (UAs), Call Session Control Functions (CSCFs), Softswitches, Multiservice Switching Platforms, SIP Application Servers, and Service Delivery Platforms. SIP and Diameter are common standards for voice and video services enabling applications such as Push-To-Talk (PTT), Instant Messaging and Presence Protocol (IMPP), and Voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi or ViFi).

“Sumitomo Electric Networks (SEN) is proud to deploy Trillium SIP protocol software in leading Japanese carriers to support NGN services,” said Minoru Kuramoto, general manager of SEN's Technologies Group. “Our innovative broadband access products, which leverage the many advantages of Trillium SIP, have helped our customers meet aggressive time-to-market needs.”

Performance, usability, and expanded specification compliance are the key differentiators that set apart the enhanced versions of Trillium SIP and Diameter. Trillium SIP software upgrades include an advanced Stateful Network Server and compliance with nearly 60 specifications from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Trillium Diameter enhancements include support for all 3GPP IMS interfaces (Cx, Dx, Sh, Dh, Ro, Rf, and Gq) and multi-threading support for multi-core architectures. Both Trillium SIP and Diameter feature an innovative and efficient XML-based test architecture that allows customers to simplify and accelerate test procedures.

“The IMS market is dynamic. By choosing IMS-enhanced Trillium SIP and Diameter protocol software, telecom equipment manufacturers will be able to take another step in furthering their competitive advantage,” said Mr. Dagenais.
