Continuous Computing Announces New CompactPCI Blade Using Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
FlexCompute cPCI-CD1215 Yields Dramatic Improvements over Pentium M-based Blades
SAN DIEGO - OCTOBER 10, 2006 - Continuous Computing, global provider of integrated systems and services that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy Next-Generation Networks (NGN), today announced the launch of a cutting-edge new compute blade that leverages the high performance of Intel Corporation's new L7400 Core 2 Duo processor. FlexCompute cPCI-CD1215, combined with Continuous Computing's full suite of CompactPCI (cPCI) platform solutions, Trillium protocol software, and professional services, empowers telecom equipment manufacturers to extend the life of cPCI systems while dramatically increasing product performance and reducing equipment costs.
Based on Intel's L7400 low-voltage Core 2 Duo processor, cPCI-CD1215 is capable of twice the memory capacity and computing power when compared to the industry's best-in-class Intel Pentium M-based blades. In addition to harnessing the latest CPU technology, cPCI-CD1215 also features power-efficient and high-performance DDR2-400 memory and a range of on-board storage and input/output options including extended duty SATA disk, optional SAS disk, and Gigabit Ethernet ports to the front, rear, and other PICMG 2.16 options.
"Telecom equipment manufacturers have invested significantly in cPCI deployments, and it is essential for them to maximize return on their investment by extending the in-service life of those platforms," said Ron Pyles, Continuous Computing's president. "FlexCompute cPCI-CD1215 delivers new levels of performance, allowing customers to dramatically increase their number of users, improve equipment density, and set the stage for realizing new revenue with cost-efficient cPCI systems."
cPCI-CD1215 is ideal for applications such as Application Server, Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF), Call State Control Function (CSCF), and a range of other compute-intensive equipment in NGN and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks.
cPCI-CD1215 is designed for NEBS and is backward compatible with previous generations of Continuous Computing's cPCI compute blades, such as cPCI-PM1116 and cPCI-PM2118, and may also be integrated with Continuous Computing's industry-leading Flex21 Network Service-Ready Platforms for a complete system solution.
Continuous Computing is now accepting orders for FlexCompute cPCI-CD1215. For more information, please visit http://www.ccpu.com/products/cpci or contact one of Continuous Computing's many local sales representatives.
