Continuous Computing Joins with Texas Instruments DSP Third Party Network
DSP Alliance Signals Importance of Advanced Multimedia Solutions in Next-Generation Networks
GLOBALCOMM (CHICAGO) AND SAN DIEGO - JUNE 5, 2006 - Continuous Computing Corporation, global provider of Network Service-Ready Platforms that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy converged communications, today announced it has joined the Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) DSP Third Party Network. By becoming part of the TI DSP Third Party Network, Continuous Computing highlights the importance of media in Next-Generation Networks and aligns with a worldwide team supporting TI's TMS320C64x digital signal processor (DSP) generation to deliver advanced multimedia solutions.
Continuous Computing uses TI's TMS320C6415T DSPs in FlexDSP ATCA-TI320, an AdvancedTCA media blade that provides telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) with a flexible, high-density DSP solution for voice and video applications. As service providers offer more and more media-centric applications, such as IP television (IPTV) and video conferencing, TEMs can leverage FlexDSP to provide superior multimedia processing capabilities. In particular, having C64x DSPs on FlexDSP allows Continuous Computing's customers to accelerate the delivery of new media platform solutions.
"Continuous Computing is aggressively developing products that leverage the flexibility and performance of TI DSPs to meet and exceed multimedia processing requirements," said Maria Ho, product marketing manager for Carrier Infrastructure Products, TI. "With these solutions, developers of 3G Wireless, Voice over IP (VoIP), and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks can focus on product differentiation by integrating high-quality, media-rich functionalities into end-user applications."
With up to 32 TI DSPs per board, TDM termination options, packet processing, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, FlexDSP provides an ideal solution for creating cost-effective, high-density media applications such as Media Gateways, SIP Media Servers, and IMS network elements. IPTV, VoIP, high-definition video, and other popular processing-intensive applications demand robust DSP capabilities to deliver top-quality service.
"Continuous Computing's commitment to AdvancedTCA systems is demonstrated in our strategic, industry-wide alliances," said Mike Coward, general manager for Continuous Computing's platforms business unit. "Our involvement with the TI DSP Third Party Network, our Associate Membership in the Intel Communications Alliance, and our founding membership in the Communications Platforms Trade Association (CP-TA) all exemplify Continuous Computing's dedication to and leadership in standards-based, telecom solutions."
