Continuous Computing Adds Diameter and COPS to Deliver 100% of the Trillium Protocol Software Needed to Deploy IMS
Addition of Key Software Building Blocks Enables TEMs to Accelerate IMS Network Infrastructure
3GSM WORLD CONGRESS (BARCELONA) AND SAN DIEGO - FEB. 14, 2006 - Continuous Computing Corporation, global provider of Network Service-Ready Platforms that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy converged communications, today announced the addition of Diameter and Common Open Policy Service (COPS) to its Trillium protocol software portfolio. With these additions, the company now has the complete set of Trillium source code needed to deploy IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network elements, making Continuous Computing a "one-stop-shop" for nearly all IMS network infrastructure needs.
Diameter is required in over 60 percent of IMS network elements and is critical to the Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) services provided by core IMS network elements. The COPS protocol fills out Continuous Computing's offering and allows the company to provide Trillium software for the Proxy Call State Control Function (P-CSCF) and Policy Decision Function (PDF) within the IMS network. With this announcement, Continuous Computing maintains its heritage of delivering the latest innovations to the telecommunications market.
"Continuous Computing has an ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality Trillium protocol software to enable telecom equipment manufacturers to deploy IMS network elements," said Annita McDonald, deputy general manager of the company's Trillium business unit. "We have the knowledge, experience, products and capacity to offer all the essential tools and services needed to deploy IMS infrastructure. Our focus on the underlying platform allows customers to concentrate their internal resources on application-specific value while empowering telecom carriers to offer revenue-generating IMS services such as presence, mobile instant messaging, push-to-talk, and IPTV."
Continuous Computing's suite of Trillium software solutions includes Trillium source code, Trillium+plus binaries, and Trillium Professional Services - all geared toward accelerating customers' time-to-market while reducing project risk and complexity. Combined with the company's line of carrier-class AdvancedTCA and CompactPCI hardware systems, Continuous Computing offers a complete product portfolio that allows telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) to deploy IMS network elements quickly and cost-effectively, such as the CSCF, Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF), and Multimedia Resource Function Controller (MRFC).
"IMS is the architecture of the future for telecommunications, which makes this news particularly important to the industry," said Lee Doyle, group vice president of communications network infrastructure for market research firm IDC. "Continuous Computing has provided leading protocols, from Trillium SS7, SIGTRAN, Wireless and VoIP and now IMS, and is carrying that momentum into next-generation technologies."
Trillium Diameter and COPS are both available now for purchase. For more information, visit http://www.ccpu.com/products/trillium or stop by the Continuous Computing booth (Stand C71 / C73) at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from February 13 - 16, 2006.
