Aeroflex's Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions Adopts Continuous Computing Technology to Launch Latest 3G Base Station Test Systems
Continuous Computing Delivers 3G Radio Network Controller Solution Set to Ensure Quality of Service in the 3G Network Rollout
SAN DIEGO, CA - November 3, 2004 - Continuous Computing Corporation, global provider of high availability platform solutions for telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy converged communications, today announced that Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions (RIWS), an Aeroflex company, is delivering its enhanced and upgraded 3G Base Station Test Systems integrated with Continuous Computing's 3GPP compliant and R4/R5 compatible Trillium software products and professional services.
The RIWS Base Station Test Systems have been designed to help network operators rigorously test their networks prior to rollout and to help improve quality of service. The 3G Radio Network Controller (RNC) is a highly complex and intelligent node in the 3G wireless network responsible for radio resource and bearer management. As 3G networks transition from 3GPP R99/R4 with ATM bearer transport to 3GPP R5/R6 with IP bearer transport compliance, interoperability and backward compatibility are important to successfully delivering advanced services to wireless network subscribers. Continuous Computing offered RIWS a comprehensive portfolio of 3G radio network subsystem signaling and data plane modules to help the company deliver RNC and Node B testing solutions. In addition to high performance products, Continuous Computing is also providing RIWS a range of professional services including turnkey platform integration, product customization and device driver development.
"We selected Continuous Computing for our next-generation testing solutions because of their extensive protocol products, leading-edge technology roadmap and the ability to provide complete integration and customization services," said Bob Miller, Senior Project Engineer, RIWS. "We have been very impressed with the tremendous job that the Continuous team has done and their dedication, responsiveness and professionalism while helping us meet our aggressive product delivery objectives."
"Through close collaboration with RIWS during multiple project phases, we have become tightly integrated with their engineering team and are firmly committed to helping ensure their success," said Ken Kalb, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Continuous Computing. "In spite of complex technology issues and compressed product delivery cycles, we have worked with them to meet their performance, quality and cost objectives. The RIWS project is a perfect case study for illustrating how Continuous Computing helps customers accelerate time to market, reduce total life cycle costs and increase return on investment."
This announcement underscores Continuous Computing's position as a leading supplier of 3G Wireless technology solutions. Coupled with the company's AdvancedTCA and CompactPCI systems and upSuite High Availability middleware, Continuous Computing's Trillium software products represent a significant step forward in custom configured platform solutions to enable rapid deployment of 3G network infrastructure elements like RNCs, Node Bs, Serving GPRS Service Nodes (SGSNs), Home Location Registers (HLRs) and Gateway GPRS Service Nodes (GGSNs).
