Interphase and Continuous Computing Join Forces to Offer Integrated, Application-Ready SS7 Solutions

PLANO, TEXAS - January 22, 2004 - Interphase Corporation (INPH), an international supplier of next generation networking technologies, today announced the general availability of application-ready SS7 solutions resulting from the integration of the Interphase iSPAN communications controller product line together with the Trillium communications protocol software suite offered by Continuous Computing. This integrated and tested network protocol stack significantly reduces equipment manufacturer cycles for development and deployment of narrowband and broadband SS7 solutions for a wide variety of wireline and wireless applications including Service Control Points (SCPs), Signaling Gateways, Softswitches, Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs), Home Location Registers (HLRs), and Radio Network Controllers (RNCs).

Interphase and Continuous Computing co-designed and developed the convergence layer software that offers seamless integration between the Interphase I/O cards running SS7 lower layers and host CPU boards running the upper layers of the Trillium SS7 stack solutions. This collaborative integration effort combines Interphase I/O cards and lower layer SS7 software, CCPU's single board computers, and the Trillium upper layer SS7 software stacks into a complete hardware and software solution that is application-ready, saving equipment manufacturers months of system development and integration time, enabling a faster time to market for their SS7 solutions.

"The cooperation between Continuous Computing and Interphase offers the best of breed solution in a tested platform," said Randall McComas, VP of Sales and Marketing, Interphase Corporation. "It eliminates at least 6 months of development and integration time for our customers since the integration is already complete."

Continuous Computing provides Trillium SS7 solutions, which have been deployed globally by telecom equipment manufacturers since 1992. The Trillium SS7 stack offers a complete standards-based implementation, including variant support for deployment worldwide and is ideal for building carrier-grade equipment. "A goal of Continuous Computing is to provide our customers with highly-available and field-proven performance Trillium SS7 solutions requiring minimal integration effort in our attempt to shrink the time-to-market windows," said Simon Waters, VP of Business Development for Continuous Computing. "The convergence layer provides an efficient integration path for the Trillium SS7 stack with Interphase T1/E1 controllers and SS7 iWARE software, thereby enabling our customers to develop next-generation wireline and wireless infrastructure solutions on the fast track."
