Continuous Computing Delivers Application-Ready, Open Architecture Platform For Telecom Equipment Manufacturers
Flex21 HA CompactPCI Platform Offers Highest Slot Density, Highest Power per Slot, and Easy Serviceability for Rapid Deployment of Voice-over-Packet, Wireless, Intelligent Network, OAM&P Applications
SAN DIEGO, CA - February 24, 2003 - Continuous Computing Corporation (CCPU), a leading provider of high-availability computing solutions for telecom equipment manufacturers, today announced the Flex21 application-ready, open architecture platform. Designed to accommodate different architectures and operating systems, the Flex21 platform is the cornerstone of CCPU's complete family of OPENbladeTM architecture solutions for Intel, SPARC and PowerPC. The high-availability, carriergrade Flex21 platform breaks new ground in CompactPCI with support for nineteen node slots and the ability to independently power and cool up to 100W per slot.
"The Flex21 application platform provides our telco customers a highly flexible system with the density, power, management and serviceability they need in a robust platform," said Ken Kalb, CEO, Continuous Computing Corp. "The ability of the Flex21 platform to run Intel, SPARC and PowerPC applications means our customers have a transparent base on which to build their applications. They can get to market faster with a low cost, open standards platform that is easy to deploy."
The Flex21 system furthers CCPU's strategy of providing high-availability platform solutions for a range of critical telecommunications provider markets. Available fully integrated with CCPU's award-winning upSuiteTM high-availability middleware and CCPU's world-renowned Trilliumñ protocol stacks, the new system provides customers with a fast path from development to deployment revenue.
The Flex21 platform is built on industry standards and designed for ease of manageability, serviceability, and scalability, resulting in lower total cost of ownership. The Flex21 platform can be custom configured to meet specific application needs, with a basic design that includes:
- 21 slots that include 2 switches, 2 management modules and 19 node slots
- Open architecture support for Intel, SPARC, and PowerPC applications
- PICMG 2.16 Gigabit Ethernet, H.110 telephony bus and optional PCI segments
- Redundant out-of-band management and telco alarming
- Serial console access and redundant IPMI and alarm connectivity
- Integrated inventory and cable management, LED indicators and ESD jacks
- Power and cooling for 100W per slot
