FlexCore ATCA-FM81 is Continuous Computing’s third-generation ATCA switch. Now supporting redundant 40GbE fabric connections, the FM81 ATCA 40G switch was designed with the most bandwidth-intensive applications in mind, such as LTE Evolved Packet Core, traffic shaping, Internet offload & wireless security. With the largest port count in the industry, the FM81 ATCA 40G switch enables the use of high bandwidth application blades scaling to a fully populated 14-slot system.
With 16 ports all on a modular design, the FM81 ATCA 40G switch is best-in-class regarding external port count. Whether supporting 10G, 40G or even 100G external connections, there is no need to re-qualify the FM81 ATCA 40G switch as it is simply a mezzanine swap-out of the Rear Transition Module. Another feature not found in competitive solutions is the native support of 16 x 10GbE of external connectivity without the added burden of having to mix 40GbE & 10GbE connections.
The FM81 ATCA 40G switch also supports the latest Intel processor for customer-based applications resident on the switch blade, thus enabling full application blade support in every slot via use of the industry-standard COM Express module with support for the very latest Intel CPU providing the performance required for even the most demanding applications. This application processor supports two storage drive bays, enabling over 500GB of storage.
The FM81 ATCA 40G switch is designed with a powerful quad core service processor as compared to competing dual core processors. The high performance service processor administers all platform management and switch functions completely independent of any COM Express module or storage drives thus allowing the COM Express module to be used solely for customers’ applications.
