The FlexCore ATCA-FM80 is Continuous Computing’s third generation of ATCA switching solutions. With the market’s momentum driving toward lowest cost per bit, the FM80 40G ATCA switch supports 4X the backplane connectivity (40GbE) to each payload slot over previous generation systems. The FM80 40G ATCA switch also leverages up to 200GbE of external I/O connectivity and enables further cost savings with the use of an optional on-board application processor thereby delivering maximum use of payload slots. The FM80 includes a sophisticated clocking subsystem supporting IEEE1588 and/or Synchronous Ethernet, appropriate for network elements of this capacity.

The FM80 40G ATCA switch provides full 40GbE line-rate switching for 14 slots with 640Gbps non-blocking fabric switch. The backplane interface not only supports 40GbE connectivity, but also supports backward compatibility with 1G and 10G. The FM80 40G ATCA switch offers external connectivity via a modular-based approach which eliminates the need for requalification when upgrading. The FM80 40G ATCA switch also supports both front and rear I/O access with a single blade SKU, thereby reducing operational expenses and time to market.
Designed to consolidate common switching, management, and clocking functions for telecom applications, industry-standard FM80 ATCA 40G switch ensures easy integration and flexible management interfaces. CLOCK MEZZANINE
- Fixed Timing – switch chip is clocked from a fixed oscillator / clock synthesizer
- Synchronous Timing – switch chip is clocked from a PLL which is locked to one of the clock outputs from the switch chip; those outputs can be programmed to select any of the ports as an input source
- IEEE 1588 Timing – The switch is clocked from a variable frequency oscillator; the oscillator is adjusted under control of the management CPU
